I grew up in Ohio and moved to Arizona to attend graduate school. I graduated from Arizona State University with my Master of Science in Nursing and Nurse Practitioner (1993). I worked in two large Dermatology practices prior to establishing Arizona Premier Dermatology in 2007. I am a member of the Skin Cancer Foundation. I have practiced sun protection as an adult, but I discovered I enjoyed a new outdoor activity…paddle boarding. I began paddle boarding two years ago and discovered very quickly that I needed more than sunscreen, hats, sunglasses and UPF shirts to protect my ENTIRE skin. I did not feel comfortable being on the water > 1 hour due to the increase in sun exposure from the reflection of the water. It is estimated that UVA rays reflect off the sea water increasing overall exposure by 25% (WHO UV fact sheet). Also, Malignant Melanoma (the most serious type of skin cancer) are more likely to develop on the legs in women. I knew I needed to find a full coverage solution. I started my search for activewear that was both UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) and stylish. Unfortunately, the few garments I found that were full body were unflattering, boring, and very uncomfortable. In my quest for stylish sun protective activewear – AquaSkinwear was born …beautiful, comfortable sun protection. AquaSkinwear offers the highest sunblock protection with the best UPF fabric available. They are also 100% made in the USA!

In women, the legs are the most common site of melanoma. Protect them with AquaSkinwear.

Sun Protection - is it Adequate?

Even the best suncreens break down after a few hours.

I have recommended wider brimmed hats and polarized eye protection for years, yet I continue to hear from my patients that they “forgot” to apply sunscreen or re-apply sunscreen. It is recommended to apply one ounce (shot-glass amount) to your body. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends re-application of sunscreen every two hours.

Aquaskinwear makes it easy to protect your skin….Just slip it on by itself or over your swimsuit and away you go!
No need to hassle with messy sunscreen.

Surfing, free-diving, paddleboarding, kayaking, wave-running, scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing, boating or just backyard swimming!

AquaSkinwear’s sun protection clothing is specially treated garments designed to filter ultraviolet rays. Sun protection clothing carries a UPF (ultraviolet protection factor) rating that’s designed to provide more protection. Not all fabric is created equal. When choosing sun protection clothing, make sure the UPF ratings offer the maximum UV protection.
